League position: 3rd Manchester City had now drawn 500 home league games (played 2,275). Sergio Agüero had now scored in all five of his Premier League games against Liverpool at Etihad Stadium (five goals). David Silva made the 400th appearance of his league career while John Stones made his 100th Premier League appearance. Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola said: "Congratulations to Liverpool and Manchester City. It is one of the days I am proud the most. I have not had a long career as manager and it is one of the most special days of my life."

In his his 450th career league appearance, James Milner scored his 50th career league goal and established a competition record of remaining unbeaten in all 47 Premier League games when he had scored (passing 46-game record held by Darius Vassell). The Reds' only win in seven away league and cup games so far in 2017 came at League Two Plymouth Argyle in the FA Cup. Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said: "Between 50 and 65 minutes we could have decided the game and we didn't. Before the game, if someone told me I would get a point at City, I would have taken it."
