Comments:

League position: 4th Mohamed Salah had now scored 19 goals in 24 appearances for Liverpool so far in this season in all competitions; as many as he scored in 41 games for AS Roma in 2016-17. Following their midweek 7-0 win against Spartak Moscow, the Reds had now won only one of their six games following a UEFA Champions League tie this season (drawn four). They had now scored 41 goals in their last 12 games in all competitions.

Comments:

League position: 10th Wayne Rooney became the first Liverpool-born player to score for Everton in a Merseyside derby in the Premier League since 3 April 1999 (Francis Jeffers in a 3-2 defeat at Anfield). This was only the fourth time in the last 32 games (all competitions) when they had been trailing at half-time that the Toffees had recovered to avoid defeat (drew four, lost 28). They failed in their attempt to win three consecutive games in the Premier League for the first time since their opening three games of 2017.
