After the traumas of 1999/2000, Leyton Orient began the new Brisbane Road campaign by following last week's win at Plymouth Argyle by maintaining their 100% record. Although holding the upperhand throughout - mirrored in a corner count of 12 to 2 - new look Carlisle pushed the home team to the end but couldn't find an equaliser. The contest was decided by a dubious penalty. Tony Hemmings was adjudged to have pulled down Ahmet Brkovic by referee North's assistant. The two officials were engaged in a long discussion before the kick was awarded. Matt Lockwood made light of the debate as he cooly converted with a low left foot shot.
