Comments:

League position: 2nd By scoring in this match, Jamie Vardy set a new Premier League record by scoring in 11 consecutive Premier League games. In the pre-Premier League era, Stan Mortensen scored in each of Blackpool's 11 games in the top division (old League Division One) between 3 February 1951 and 7 April 1951, in part of a run when he scored in all 15 league games that he played in for the Tangerines between 23 December 1950 and 21 April 1951. The all-time record for the top division that only features every league game played by the club is 12 by Jimmy Dunne for Sheffield United from 24 October 1931 to 1 January 1932. That was part of a run when he scored in all 13 of 13 league games he played in. Elsewhere in the Football League, Tom Phillipson scored in all 13 of Wolverhampton Wanderers' games in old League Division Two between 6 November 1926 and 9 February 1927. Jamie Vardy had now scored 14 goals in the Premier League in this season. He therefore became Leicester City's record goalscorer in a Premier League season, surpassing Tony Cottee's 13 in 1999-00. Leicester City went in to this game on top of the Premier League for the first time since October 2000. At the same stage of the 2014-15 season, the Foxes were bottom of the table with only two wins from 14 games.

Comments:

League position: 3rd Manchester United had now lost only one of their last ten Premier League matches (won six). Bastian Schweinsteiger scored in the first minute of added time in the first-half to become the first ever German player to score a goal for Manchester United. United had conceded the fewest goal at this stage of the 2015-16 Premier League season (ten goals in 14 games) and had now conceded two goals in their last eight league games the other goal was a penalty).
