Comments:

League position: 5th Everton had now won eight consecutive home league games for the first time since April 1990 in League Division One. The Toffees had now scored their most goals at home in a league season (41) since 1986-87 (49). They had now taken 802 points from their 479 home games in the Premier League. Romelu Lukaku became the first player to score in nine consecutive home games for Everton since Dixie Dean in 1934. Everton manager Ronald Koeman said: "It took 30 minutes to understand what we needed to do today because Burnley were a top opponent. They showed more aggression than we showed. We were lucky not to be down in the first 30 minutes, but the second-half was much better."

Comments:

League position: 14th Burnley and Rotherham United (already relegated from the League Championship) were now the only two teams in the top four divisions in this season without an away league win. The Clarets had now taken only four points from their 17 away games so far in this Premier League season. They conceded three goals for only the second time in their last 21 Premier League games. Burnley manager Sean Dyche said: "We've been punished by a bobbly first goal, a bobbly second one and then a great finish from a top striker. It's a good performance on the road that suggests we will get there in the end. There's life in performances like that. We've got to take it on now. We do need a margin of luck."
