Final league position 2017-18: 11th Crystal Palace remained unbeaten in their last 14 games against opponents in the bottom half of the Premier League table (won six). After losing their first seven games, the Eagles finished the season without defeat in their last six games (won four). Palace had now won three consecutive games in the Premier League for the first time since April 2017. They had now won on all three occasions when they had finished a Premier League season with a home game; also Sheffield Wednesday in 1997-98 and Swansea City in 2014-15.

Final league position 2017-18: 20th West Bromwich Albion finished bottom of the top division for a record 10th season and the second time in the Premier League (also 2008-09). Albion failed in their attempt to win three consecutive away games in the top division for the first time since December 1981. The Baggies had now won one of their 12 games on the final day of a Premier League season. They won none of their 17 games in this Premier League season when they conceded the first goal (lost 15). Sam Field was originally named amongst the substitutes before suffering an injury in the pre-match warm-up. Jonathan Leko took his place on the bench.
