League position: 4th Manchester City had won all of their last seven matches against Crystal Palace in all competitions. This defeat left reigning champions City nine points behind leaders Chelsea with seven games to play. They had now lost three consecutive away games in the Premier League for the first time since 11 April 2011. City had now lost four Premier League games in 2015; the same total as the whole of 2014. They had now lost five of their last seven games in all competitions. City extended their record of failing to win a Premier League away game when they trailed at half-time to almost 20 years.
