Comments:

League position: 20th Crystal Palace had now taken only five points from their opening 12 games of this Premier League season. Only one team have survived relegation having won five points or fewer at this stage (Everton with four points in 1994-95). James McArthur's goal was timed at 51 seconds and was the fastest Premier League goal this season so far. It was also Palace's second-fastest goal in the Premier League (Dwight Gayle against Newcastle United after 31 seconds on 30 August 2014). They had now scored more than one goal in three consecutive home games in the Premier League for the first time. Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson said: "In answer to the question: 'You now have to do something to turn that into victories' I don't know what can be done except more and more of the same and hope that if good performances are the key to getting points we will get them. If it is quite simply that it doesn't matter whether you play well or badly, then you are looking for someone with a magic wand and it doesn't matter how they play they just happen to win, then good luck."

Comments:

League position: 16th Everton were now ithout a win in their last 14 away games in the Premier League; their worst such run since December 1997. The only defender to score more penalties in the Premier League than Leighton Baines (20) was now the current Everton caretaker manager David Unsworth (22). Oumar Niasse had now scored more Premier League goals so far in this season (five in seven games) than he had scored in his previous two seasons combined (four in 22). Everton caretaker manager David Unsworth said: "If I get the job I'll be delighted, if I don't, I'm sure the owner and the chairman will have made what they feel is the right decision for the club. I'm an Everton fan, I work for the club and whoever was to get the honour of the job I'd shake them by the hand and wish them all the best because I would want them to succeed."
