With Eden Hazard's conversion maintaining his 100% spot kick record (nine out of nine), the Blues became only the second team after Liverpool to score 100 penalties in the Premier League.

Their last league win at Stamford Bridge was a 1-0 victory on 27 April 1974 when the goal was scored by their Chelsea legend, Alan Hudson. With his 50th goal in English club football, Charlie Adam scored from his own half of the pitch. His shot was measured at 66 yards. City had failed to score in six of the previous seven Premier League games against Chelsea.
