Comments:

League position: 4th This game took place a day after the 20th anniversary of the death of the club's former vice-chairman Matthew Harding and a day before the 50th birthday of owner Roman Abramovich. Chelsea had now kept clean sheets in three consecutive Premier League games for the first time since April 2015 when Jose Mourinho was their manager. Pedro's opening goal was timed at 30 seconds. It was the Blues' fastest goal in a Premier League game since Eidur Gudjonsen scored after 27 seconds in a 2-1 defeat by Arsenal at Stamford Bridge on 21 February 2004.

League position: 7th On his first return to Stamford Bridge in the Premier League, this was the second biggest defeat of Jose Mourinho's managerial career after a 5-0 defeat in La Liga at Barcelona (another previous club) on 29 November 2010 when he was in charge of Real Madrid. After nine games of this season, Manchester United now totalled 14 points. Their lowest tally at this stage of a Premier League season was 13 points in 2014-15. This was the fourth time that United had lost a Premier League game by a margin of four or more goals and all four were played in the month of October (0-5 at Newcastle United in 1996, 0-5 at Chelsea in 1999 and 1-6 v Manchester City in 2011).
