League position: 7th This was now Burnley's best ten-game start to a top division season since 1973-74 when they were in second position behind Leeds United. This game took place five years to the day since Sean Dyche succeeded Eddie Howe as Burnley's manager when the Clarets were in 14th position in the League championship. Only five goals had been scored in the five games at Turf Moor so far in this Premier League season. Burnley manager Sean Dyche said: [Amid rumours of a pending approach by managerless Everton] "I just keep getting on with my job, it’s as simple as that. We just keeping getting on with it. That’s my focus and my team’s focus. We have to plan in the boardroom but generally we take each game as it comes. We keep that clarity of thought and I keep that clarity of thought myself. It’s been an interesting five years and we are still going."

League position: 9th After ten games of this Premier League season, Newcastle United were now the only team outside of the top six who had a positive goal difference (+1). The Toon had now lost all of their last 12 league games played on a Monday (all away games). They had now conceded only one goal in the first-half of their games so far in this Premier League season. Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez said: "I'm really disappointed. It was a game we were controlling and we knew that scoring one goal would win it. We made a mistake and we paid for it. We have some good things but sometimes we are missing being more precise on the ball and being more clinical."
