Barnet v Mansfield Town, 19 August 2000

A six-goal thriller left both teams unbeaten after two games of the new season but the Stags were the happier having recovered from a two goal deficit. Their experienced midfielder Mark Blake scored at both ends last week but his spectacular opener from 35 yards matched that from Chris Greenacre in the same game at Cheltenham. Barnet had to rely on a touch of fortune for their leveller as Mark Arber deflected Danny Brown wayward volley. They needed no such assistance to nudge ahead as Sam Stockley stooped to head home his first senior goal at Underhill. The Bees made it three in less than ten minutes when Scott McGleish darted in from of Alastair Asher to head home. The Stags hopes were hit further when sub Michael Boulding's involvement lasted only ten minutes as he suffered a broken nose. John Still's men appeared to sit back and paid the price when Darrell Clarke provided the perfect finish to a neat Town move ended. Chris Greenacre then volleyed home from 12 yards to set up an exciting finish.
