With Exeter proving difficult to beat on their travels, the recent trend of close Bees-Grecian battles continued as the spoils were shared in North London. Barnet were first out of the traps and went close through Mark Arber, Darren Currie, Rob Sawyers and Scott McGleish in the opening quarter. City came more into the picture as play progressed so home hopes were on the slide when the Bees took the lead. Sawyers broke down the left, he cut in and drilled a pass to Ken Charlery. The veteran striker - appearing at Underhill for the last time prior to his move to Boston United - showed his class by stroking the ball firmly home. Exeter's resolve increased and, with Barnet looking increasingly ill at ease, Darren Roberts found their equaliser. Lax Bees defending allowed the former Darlington marksman to turn and strike his first goal for his new club. Jamie Campbell and Mark Rawlinson had signalled the Grecian intent, and they nearly claimed the maximum reward when Steve Flack's effort was cleared off the line.

This result continued a recent trend as it was Barnet's third draw in a row with Exeter. This was the lowest League attendance at Underhill since 1,314 saw the visit of Scunthorpe United on 10 November 1998. League Position: 8th

Comments:

Exeter now haven't lost in their last four visits to Underhill, having failed to win any of their first four trips. The Exeter scorer was Darren Roberts, not Christian Roberts - as recorded by some newspapers. League position: 19th
