Comments:

League position: 19th This was Tim Sherwood's first match as Aston Villa manager. Following Paul Lambert's dismissal, this was the first time that a round of matches in England's top division had been played without a Scottish manager in charge of any of the teams since December 1984. Villa have now not won in eleven Premier League matches. Their last win Premier League was against Leicester City on 7 December 2014 so they remain as the only team in the division who have yet to win in 2015. They have now lost six league games in a row for the second time in 2014-15. Brad Guzan made his 100th consecutive Premier League appearance for Aston Villa. Stoke City’s Jon Walters was the last player to do this in October 2013. Ron Vlaar was sent off in the second minute of added time in the second half as he was shown his second yellow card in two minutes. Villa have now been shown six red cards in the Premier League so far this season, more than any other team.
