Comments:

League position: 16th Aston Villa’s goal ended their run of 659 minutes (a minute short of 11 hours) without a Premier League goal; the fourth worst goalless run in Premier League history. Villa have now scored 12 goals after 24 games in the Premier League so far in 2014-15. Only Leicester City (11 in 1977-78) have scored fewer at this stage of a top-flight season. They are now without a win in nine league matches. This was manager Paul Lambert’s 100th league match in charge of Aston Villa (won 25, lost 49 and scored 98 goals). This was Tom Cleverley’s 100th Premier League appearance. Jores Okore was booked for excessive celebration.
