Comments:

Arsenal conceded three or more goals in a game at Wembley for the first time since October 1999 in a 4-2 defeat by Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League. Pep Guardiola was a member of that Barca team. Gunners manager Arsène Wenger failed in his attempt to become the eighth manager to win all three of England's major domestic trophies after Bill Nicholson, Joe Mercer, Don Revie, George Graham, Alex Ferguson, Kenny Dalglish and José Mourinho. They scored only six goals in their League Cup ties in this season; the lowest total of any team to reach the final in the competition’s history.

Comments:

This was the first trophy that Manchester City had won under manager Pep Guardiola. He had now won seven of his eight major domestic and European finals in his managerial career. Sergio Agüero scored his 199th goal for City and his 30th of the season; the fourth time in seven seasons at the club that he had reached the 30-goal mark. This win came six days after they had been knocked out of the FA Cup by League One Wigan Athletic.
