Chesterfield beat Accrington Stanley 3-0 on this day in 1952, thanks to a Dennis Westcott brace and a Walter Harrison penalty, but of greater significance was Dave Blakey’s return to the club at the end of his two years of National Service. From this game on, he played in 244 consecutive Football League games for Chesterfield, keeping his place until injury prevented his lining up on November 30th, 1957.
