Reading transferred centre forward, Frank Newton, to Fulham, from where they had signed him a year earlier. Entered the League with Stockport County in 1927 moving to Fulham in 1931. When the London club won the Third Division South title in 1932 he had scored 41 goals. A month after re-joining Fulham he broke his leg in a friendly against F.C. Austria and the injury put him out of the game for good. He had scored 190 goals in only 208 League matches.

John Henderson, Wolverhampton Wanderers utility forward, transferred to Arsenal. Turned professional with Portsmouth in 1949 and in 9 years at Fratton Park was capped by Scotland at centre forward and on both wings. Moved to Wolves in March 1958 and left Arsenal for Fulham in January 1962. Recurring injury caused him to leave the Football League in 1964 for the less exacting Southern League with Poole Town. He played in 372 League matches and scored 109 goals and won 7 Scottish caps between 1953 and 1959.

Bill Dickson, Chelsea's Irish international wing half, signed for Arsenal. Came to Chelsea in 1948 as part of the Tommy Lawton transfer fee, from Notts County. Was very unlucky with a shoulder injury and when he moved to Mansfield Town in 1956 he had to give up the game before he had appeared in a match for them. Played in 152 League matches, scoring 7 goals and appeared in 12 internationals between 1950 and 1955.

Laurie Kelly, Wolverhampton Wanderers' full back, transferred to Huddersfield Town. Made debut for Wolves in 1947 but never gained a regular place. Was a member of the Huddersfield defence which played in all 42 League games in 1952-53 when they won the Second Division. Left the League in 1957 after appearing in 223 League games.
