Andy Wilson, Middlesbrough's Scottish international centre forward, scored all his side's 5 goals against Nottingham Forest in a First Division game. He scored 3 other goals before being transferred to Chelsea at the end of November yet he finished the season as Boro's top scorer. What's more, he scored 5 goals in the rest of the season for Chelsea and that was sufficient to make him their top scorer. Both clubs were relegated and for one player to be the leading scorer of both relegated clubs in one season is without parallel in the history of the Football League.

Sandy Hair scored 5 of Partick Thistle's 8 goals against Hamilton Academicals. Although he had 5 seasons with Partick he only had one as regular centre forward, 1926-27, and then he set the club scoring record with 41 goals. His record for the club was 76 goals in 84 matches before joining Preston North End shortly before Christmas 1928. Had two seasons there scoring 22 goals in 47 League matches.
