After Preston North End had beaten Queens Park 3-0 in the First Round of the F.A. Cup at Hampden Park, the crowd attacked James Rose, North End's inside right, in the dressing room. It was alleged that he had knocked out a Queens Park defender after he had been fouled from behind. The Queens Park officials had to smuggle him out of the ground in disguise.

Herbie Roberts, Arsenal centre half, carried off at the start of the second half of the match with Middlesbrough at Highbury. The injury not only ended his playing career but was mainly responsible for his early death in 1944. He had been a member of the Arsenal first team for ten years and was renowned as the first of the "policeman" centre halves who came into vogue following the change in the off-side law in 1925. He played in 297 League games for the club and won League and Cup medals. His only game for England was against Scotland in 1931.
